Really? Recovery clich\u00e9s? Are people really gonna say the same things over and over again?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And with this particular clich\u00e9 \u2013 bullshit. I\u2019ve had some amazing days drinking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nashville.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/cliches.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4105\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nashville.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/cliches-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"cliches\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" style=\"padding:5px;\" align=\"left\" \/><\/span><\/a>I must say that I still don\u2019t love hearing clich\u00e9s because I think they\u2019re kinda lazy. Worse, when people use clich\u00e9s, they\u2019re not using their own words. So I feel like they\u2019re not being authentic, and that turns me off to the whole share.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I know, I know, talk to my sponsor. Take what I need and leave the rest. Sigh. I\u2019m working on it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Anyway, clich\u00e9s can also be quite insightful, or funny, or, well, infuriating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here, compiled with help from dozens of Nashville recovery friends, is a list of the recovery clich\u00e9s and slogans we love to hate. I ranked \u2018em for fun, for cringe-worthiness and hilarity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24.<b>\u00a0Keep it simple.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23.<b>\u00a0Girls can only get you drunk if you drink out of \u2018em.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22.<b>\u00a0The good thing about getting clean is, you get your feelings back. While I\u2019m in here, my disease is doing push-ups in the parking lot<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6<b>. Take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth<\/b>!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5.<b>\u00a0Denial \u2013 It ain\u2019t a river in Egypt<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4<b>. You\u2019ll end up locked up, covered up or sobered up<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3<b>. \u201cNormal\u201d is just a setting on the washing machine<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2<b>. The only thing you have to change is everything<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1<b>.
